Why Do You Originate?

This is an important exercise to think about and write out

I read an article yesterday that made me stop in tracks and pause.
It was from the creator of a course I purchased all about writing short books to generate new leads… something I already do and have taught but I am always trying to learn more and sharpen my skills- hope you are too..

In a previous article I mentioned how we are all really just jugglers so I hope you take a minute right now and JUST PAUSE - grab a pen and sheet of paper… and FOCUS!

AS LOAN OFFICERS WE HAVE TO:
Bring in new loans and Take Loan Apps- and Pre Qualify new clients
Make sure the loans we have are going smoothly and the buyers /appraisers etc are doing their jobs.
Manage the deadlines in your pipeline.
Consistently market for referrals.
Consistently maintain the referral relationships you have.
Always be working on creating and building new relationships.
Stay on top of the constantly changing guidelines and program offerings.
Stay up to date on what the real estate and rate markets are doing.

I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU — BUT THIS IS EXHAUSTING…

SO LET ME ASK YOU A VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION….

WHY DO YOU ORIGINATE LOANS?

Yes the simple answer is that we originate loans so we can make money… yeah it might feel good to help people and all that — but really you do this to make money right?

LET’S GO ONE LAYER DEEPER…..
Aside from just paying your bills- WHAT DO YOU EARN MONEY FOR…..?

For me it’s earning enough to have an FU figure that means financial freedom.
WHAT IS YOUR FU NUMBER…????

That figure allows me to be debt free- and at a conservative 5% return on my money it allows me to generate 250,000 a year.
THAT MEANS TOTAL FREEDOM TO DO WHATEVER I WANT - WHENEVER I WANT - and that’s what keeps me motivated.
It’s what allows me to deal with nasty buyers- and agents-
It’s what allows me to start at 7:30 am and finish some nights at 9 pm.

SO WHAT IS YOUR FU NUMBER
