Are you a DOCTOR OR A Waiter when you originate?

Sounds crazy but take a minute and really think about this..

Here’s what I mean:
You go to a restaurant - you look at the menu and the waiter/waitress brings you your food..
You may ask questions about how much the special cost today or what a dish you aren’t aware of contains but at the end of the day you are
just a simple order taker

You go to a DR
They do an exam and ask you questions
They may even do some tests
They discuss what the issue you have might be and then create a treatment plan

AS A PROFESSIONAL LOAN OFFICER YOU NEED TO BE MORE LIKE THE DR

Analyze which programs are best
Discuss the options with your client
Guide them thru the process to closing

WHY BE THE DOCTOR?
Dr’s are usually referred by happy patients— we all need referrals
You never question the DR’s fees you just want a solution
When a DR gives you a prescription you generally take it without calling 3 other Dr’s

Take a step back and really think about your interactions with your prospects and clients..
REAL LIFE EXAMPLE
Client wants to keep their payment to 2500 a month but loves a home that costs 2900 a month … they qualify fine for the 2900
They want to put down an extra 20,000 and now ask for seller help thus weakening their offer .. on a home that has a lot of competition
BTW- that 20k still doesn’t drop their paymet 400 a month in any case.

So what do you do..
Tell them to buy a less expensive home.??? I don’t think your agent will be too happy with that answer?

I saw that they had a personal loan with a payment of 390 a month and a balance of 14800

They paid that off and now can afford the 2900 a month..

That’s what a DOCTOR DOES- sees the issues and comes up with a cure!
