We have been talking about all of the myths that we are taught as originators. Some are just not true now and some were never true.

MYTH # 1- To Succeed You Must Be Available 24/7/365
Myth # 2- You Must Have The Best Rates Or Rocket or Some other competitor will clean your clock.
MYTH # 3- You need to go out and meet people and “beg” - call it what you want- for business …. let everyone know who you are and what you do.
MYTH # 4- You Need to make sure that you have a budget so you can co-market with agents and also pay a desk fee to be in the house guy/lady.
MYTH # 5- Your income will depend on what the real-estate market and rates and the economy are doing. So you will need to budget for good years and bad years and good months and bad months.
TODAY LET’S COVER MYTH #6 - You need to join a networking group - have a social media presence- and always be “asking” for business.
I may be one of the few people you will ever meet who has gotten thrown out of a BNI group. The truth is that I never even wanted to be in the group to begin with since I am basically very introverted and shy.
But more importantly- I truly don’t understand how the copier sales person can send me leads each month. Do you?
BUT I DO SEE VALUE IN BEING IN A DIFFERENT KIND OF NETWORKING GROUP AND HAVE STARTED A FEW OF THEM..
They are NOT general networking groups that you might think of but rather TOPIC SPECIFIC GROUPS.. Here are 2 that I started and you can too that will be way more effective for you.
DIVORCE-
This is a very small dedicated group where we have a divorce mediator- a divorce attorney, a counselor /family psychiatrist- a financial planner- accountant - realtor and myself as the originator.
We meet once a month for an hour- We update each other on news that each of us has in our own areas of expertise. Then we discuss some new marketing strategies.
We actually even have a web page with all of us listed on it as a resource ( this makes it very easy to promote each other)
When a client is going thru a divorce- they truly need each of these components and we are all able to then easily refer each other…
CREDIT-
I started another one- same idea- but for clients with credit challenges.
This group - includes a bankruptcy attorney- a credit restortation company- a realtor- myself as the lender and an accountant.
STarting to see the picture here a bit clearer…????
Could you do one for
renovation loans
Reverse mortgages
Self- employed business people
Investors
So that was the first part of the myth- so let’s move on…
YOU DO NEED A SOCIAL Presence on FB- Linked in and others. and I will provide our paying subscribers with many tactics and proven tools going forward for each of the platforms and how to use them
BUT THE END PART OF THIS MYTH CONCERNS ME!
”You Should Always Be Asking For Business”
Some would say you need to let everyone know what you do - that part is fine.
But always be “ASKING” for business is truly just a simple way of saying go out and beg for business.
INSTEAD- I AM ALL ABOUT ATTRACTION…

This is NOT ABOUT ME OR I- but the point here is that you need to ATTRACT BUSINESS so you NEVER have to ASK for business…. it’s simply attracted to you.
You may need to read that a few times to let it sink in since I know it’s very subtle and goes against everything we have ever been taught.
