Today I turn 60… I am actually speechless.. for once in my life
It’s weird even saying that number..
But it also caused me to reflect back on my 39 years in this industry - the highs - the lows and the reason I even got into this business….
Many of you will say that it was to help people and that;s great… we all should be honest and give our industry a good name..
BUT TRUTH BE TOLD - I GOT INTO THIS BUSINESS TO MAKE MONEY
LOTS OF IT
and still have the time freedom to enjoy life..
The first number of years in this business I worked 24/7 and didn’t even make what would have been a minimum wage for the hours spent.. I was begging and chasing and it sucked…
Then my hard work paid off and I started getting some business regularly but still very much unpredictable and based on how many agents would use me.
NOT WHAT I HAD SIGNED UP FOR!!! AT ALL!!!
The highs in this busines are AWESOME especially for someone like me that barely graduated high school..
THE LOWS are incredibly low and work to destroy your self esteem and finances..
It wasn’t until about 15 to 20 years in this business that I figured it out and decided there had to be a better way…
IT’S ACTUALLY VERY SIMPLE WHEN YOU THINK OF IT BUT DEFINITELY NOT EASY!!!
THE KEYS—
FIRST YOU MUST HAVE A NUMBER— you can’t get anywhere until you know where you want to go
How many loans- How Much you want to earn- how you will do it and if you are on track monthly—- yes this works even when the market is slower
- Know WHO you want to work with and who you don’t ( buyers and agents)
-ATTRACT THEM TO YOU by showcasing your knowledge
This works for listing agents and even directly to buyers and other referral sources
- THEN you need to be able to provide this select group with marketing tools and buyers and other tactics that make them your partner - just like a marriage!
Then you must keep them involved.. remember agents just want to sell more homes
How are you able to help them with this..
YOU NEED TO BE EVERYWHERE THEY ARE AND NEVER BE INVISIBLE!!!
